Sonya’s Creations Media Company: A Story of Faith, Family, and Becoming

Sonya’s Creations Media Company, based in Baton Rouge is rooted in something deeper than business—it’s built on belief, resilience, and the power of capturing real moments that matter.
Before the camera. Before the clients. Before the name.
There was a woman committed to her family, her purpose, and doing whatever it took to make a way.
A wife. A mother of two. An educator.
And long before she ever called herself an entrepreneur—she was already becoming one.

Long before Sonya’s Creations Media Company existed, there were moments being saved.
From Polaroids to disposable cameras to digital snapshots, she was always the one documenting life—not for attention, but because it mattered.
Her mother gave her a Panasonic VHS-C camcorder when she was younger, and she held onto it—and every tape—preserving memories that would later mean even more.
At the time, it didn’t feel like purpose.
It felt like habit.
But what she didn’t realize then was this:
She wasn’t just capturing moments—she was preparing for her calling.

Years later, that quiet habit turned into a real conversation.
In 2010, she and her husband began talking about starting a photography and videography business.
It was just an idea—until one simple question changed everything:
“If you could choose any camera, which one would you want?”
She chose.
And then they left.
No big moment.
But sometimes, the smallest moments are setting up the biggest shifts.
At five months pregnant, her life was about to shift in a way that she had only imagined.
Her son called her into the room, and what she found waiting was a gift… but it wasn’t just a gift.
It was confirmation.
A camera. Lenses. Equipment.
And, most importantly, words that would stay with her:
“I believe in you, and I want to invest in your dreams.”
Her husband had given her the camera, and that moment didn’t just give her tools.
Instead, it gave her permission to believe bigger.
The beginning wasn’t easy.
After college, stability didn’t come quickly. She worked where she could—retail, Southern University, then the school system—doing what she had to do to provide.
Because this was never about convenience.
It was about commitment.
Then life shifted again.
After being laid off, she was faced with a choice:
Play it safe—or trust what was already inside of her.

When she told her husband she lost her job, his response changed everything.
He told her to go all in.
To trust her gift.
To build.
It wasn’t guaranteed.
It wasn’t comfortable.
But it was necessary.
Since 2012, she’s been walking fully in that decision—turning uncertainty into stability, and faith into proof.

There were no shortcuts.
No instant success.
No outside funding.
She built everything step by step—saving, reinvesting, and growing with intention.
There were slow seasons.
Moments of doubt.
But she learned something powerful:
Not everyone is meant to choose you—and that doesn’t mean you’re not chosen.

Her work is rooted in candid storytelling.
Not forced poses.
Not perfection.
But real, unfiltered moments.
The laughter people don’t plan.
The connections people don’t notice.
The emotions that can’t be recreated.
Because those are the moments that last.

For Sonya, this is bigger than pictures.
It’s preservation.
It’s the ability to return to a moment and feel it all over again.
Her work doesn’t just show what happened.
It reminds people why it mattered.
And that’s what makes it timeless.
One of her biggest turning points was learning to charge her worth.
That decision shifted everything.
Her confidence.
Her business.
Her presence.
Now, she continues to expand her media company, elevate her services, and create experiences that reflect the value she brings.
Because growth isn’t optional.
It’s necessary.

Sonya’s Creations Media Company is more than a business.
It’s faith in motion.
It’s resilience in action.
It’s purpose unfolding in real time.
Her story isn’t just about where she is.
It’s about everything she pushed through to get there.
And the most powerful part?
She’s still becoming.
